Autumn is all about transitional fashion. As we shift between warm and cool weather wardrobes, it’s also the perfect time to mix it up and try some bolder looks!

1.      Rethink neutral colours

 Tamara’s first tip is to consider green as one of your neutral colours. The same advice can apply for blues, reds and other primary colours. With white denim trending, brightly coloured jackets or vests can be a great way to mix up a monochromatic outfit.

2.      Try bolder patterns

 Bold patterns might feel intimidating, especially if you’re a minimalist. However, most of us probably have more patterns in our wardrobe than we realise; simple tartans, checkerboard print, pinstripes, embossed fabrics or houndstooth prints.

This autumn, consider mixing it up with bolder prints and patterns that make a statement, with jumpers and shirts that can pair easily with neutral pants and skirts. If you’re feeling adventurous, try pairing them with other patterned pieces to experiment with clashing patterns.

3.      Add texture

 If you’re sticking with simple colours and silhouettes, mixing up your textures is a must to give your outfits a point of interest. Luckily, the changing autumn weather means you can wear (and shop) materials for both warm and cool weather, giving you even more textures to experiment with. Depending on your climate, consider; wool, leather, flannel, denim, silk, corduroy, linen and fleece, all of which have distinctive textures you can wear with common fabric blends.
